As we continue life in lockdown, you may feel it’s the right time for a new job or career switch. Our seasoned recruitment team have put together a series of top tips to help you land that dream job, even in lockdown.
With COVID driving redundancy up around the world, you should expect fierce competition for each and every role; that’s why it’s more important than ever to perfect your CV.
If it’s been a while since you last updated your CV, be sure to first add any up to date experience to your document. Once all of the details have been added, you need to format your CV so that it’s easy to read, and looks professional - you can use our template CV as a guide.
Every job has a different set of requirements, so it’s important to tailor your CV to each role by including only the essential information for each position; we recommend saving a ‘master copy’ of your CV, which you can duplicate and edit as needed.
Once you’re ready to send your CV off, you should save it as a word document (a .docx file type). This is a type of file which is recognised and used universally – perfect for any application!
With your CV in hand, you can begin searching for your dream job. The vast majority of businesses advertise their vacancies online, so you should focus your search on the net.
As well as recruitment sites like Indeed and CV Library, we have our own job site – ENS Commercial; from careers in all aspects of office work, from accounting, HR, administration to marketing, we have a range of exciting opportunities online. If you prefer something more personal, our experienced consultants can guide you to your dream job every step of the way, simply email [email protected] or ring 01702 214274.
When you’re invited to an interview, it will likely be over the phone or through communication software, like Zoom. Although these digital interviews can feel more casual, first impressions matter; you’ll still be expected to be punctual, polite, confident and well dressed.
Don’t forget to straighten out all of the details well in advance of your interview. While you likely won’t have to visit their offices, you’ll need to know what software you’ll be using, the dress code, and what documents to bring.
Confidence is key, so you’ll want to sit up straight, maintain eye contact and smile throughout your interview. Keep your answers concise and relevant by rehearsing common interview questions and researching the company you’re interviewing for. Properly preparing not only boosts your confidence on the day, your knowledge will naturally come across during your interview.
We wish you the very best of luck with your job search! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Commercial Consultant, Kim Baker. She would be more than happy to help. Email [email protected] or ring her on 01702 214274.
